Ryan Reynolds Sparks ‘Great British Bake Off’ Speculation After Posing With Judges Prue Leith and Paul Hollywood

Ryan Reynolds certainly has his hands full between filming Deadpool 3, owning a professional soccer team and recently welcoming his fourth child with his wife, Blake Lively. And just when we thought he couldn’t juggle anything else, fans are speculating that he may be joining the celebrity edition of The Great British Bake Off.

The beloved actor sparked rumors after posting a photo with the show’s judges, Prue Leith and Paul Hollywood, which he captioned, “Full and unconditional hug of pure serotonin.”

The Great British Bake Off — otherwise known as The Great British Baking Show in the U.S., where it airs on Netflix — is Channel 4’s most-watched show, per Deadline. The outlet added that the upcoming celebrity installment is set to film this summer before likely premiering early next year.

While this year’s celebrity challenge has yet to drop on Netflix, it first aired back in March and raised money for Stand Up to Cancer. Friends star David Schwimmer, The Walking Dead star David Morrissey, Little Mix singer Jesy Nelson, TV personality Gemma Collins and Olympic diver Tom Daly were among the slate of icons to appear on the show.

Decider reached out to the show’s reps for comment on Reynolds’ possible involvement, but did not hear back by the time of publication.

It would come as no surprise if Reynolds were to come on as either a host or a contestant in the competition, which pits amateur bakers against each other as they whip up tasty treats through several rounds until one person is left standing. The Adam Project star has been spending a lot of time in the U.K. since purchasing the newly-promoted Wrexham AFC with It’s Always Sunny actor Rob McElhenney. The two also appeared in the Disney+ sports documentary, Welcome to Wrexham, which follows the evolution of the third-oldest professional association soccer team in the world.

If Reynolds does join, well, let’s just say that fans are all for it.

“Ohhhh my giddy aunt! Please say that you are going to be on Bake Off?” one commented on his Twitter post, while another replied, “Hahaha, I just said almost the same thing!! Fingers crossed!”

A third person added, “This is the crossover I never even knew I needed,” before someone else exclaimed, “😳 please tell me you are going to be on Bake Off!”

The Great British Baking Show is currently streaming on Netflix.
