PHOENIX — Arizona state troopers say no one was injured when a runaway bull was found wandering on a freeway in Phoenix early Friday.

Video from a traffic camera shows the dark bull with long horns walking across the highway as troopers try to herd it from the safety of their vehicles.

Sergeant Kevin Watt told AZfamily.com he came face to face with the animal, which was standing in the high occupancy roadway.

Watt tried to chase the bull off the road.

“I had my sirens on and did everything I could to scare him off the road, but it looked like he was trying to tackle me,” Watt said.

Troopers were able to force the animal off the highway and return it to the livestock pen from which it escaped. They discovered the hole in the fence that allowed the bull to escape and repaired it.

Authorities say they still don’t know who owns a gated property so close to the highway.
