The scandal resulted in Carey’s rapid disappearance from the Melbourne airwaves and from his highly lucrative gig at Channel 7.

Channel 7 had already dropped him from Friday’s main broadcast in favor of AFLW star Daisy Pearce.

The scandal came after a series of run-ins with the law dating back to 1996.
