The actor, 59, spoke about growing older and what it’s like to be an older father going to school, as well as his relationship with his appearance.

Ross is married to his wife Renee O’Brien, a lawyer, and they have three children together: Leo, eight, and twins Ava and Kitty, six. He also has a teenage son Oliver from a previous relationship.

He explained that while he wished he had a head of locks, he would never have hair implants, joking, “This is me. If you don’t like it, you know what you can do!’

He told The times: ‘I try to make myself look presentable, which is not easy with this face. I look in the mirror and think: crushed sultana.

‘Do I wish I had a head of hair? Sure, but I would never have hair implants or plastic surgery to fix this bit under my chin. This is me. If you don’t like it, you know what you can do.’

Speaking about being an older father who goes to school, he added: “I never eat breakfast, which gives me time to go to school.

‘I’m older than most fathers, but that has advantages. I am calmer when something goes wrong and can put things into perspective better.’

Last year, Ross revealed that his wife set him ‘straight out’ at the start of their relationship, as he admitted he often went on ‘bends’ with his male friends.

The star married his second wife, Australian Renee, in 2012 and the couple have been happily married ever since.

Ross – who found fame as Grant Mitchell on Eastenders – appeared on the Plot Twist podcast where he made comments about his wife.

When asked why his current marriage has lasted, he said: “Renee is quite practical, she’s Australian, she’s a lawyer, she’s very straight.

‘She’d never seen EastEnders. She had no idea I was Grant Mitchell or anything like that and she didn’t really understand that I was making documentaries.”

Revealing how he misbehaved in the early days of their relationship, he said: ‘I had just come back from Afghanistan when I first met her and generally I behaved quite badly for the first four or five weeks.’

He added: “I’ve changed now, of course, but I was having a bit of a fling with a few guys, and she kind of straightened me out.

“But she knows what I do and you know, there’s a great saying, especially used by my friends in the armed forces, which is ‘quick goodbye and long hello’.”

Following his divorce from first wife Rebekah, Ross welcomed his first child, a boy, with his partner and former makeup artist Nicole Coleman.

Since his marriage to Renee, the documentary maker has welcomed three more children.

The father-of-four also opened up about the hassle he gets from drunk guys when he’s out in public: ‘If they’ve been in the pub all day, sometimes they want to give you a hug or maybe they want you a little to give. a bit of a tap.

‘I went out to watch rugby on Friday night for the first time in a long time and yes, there were guys who definitely wanted to show me how strong they were

The actor made his debut in February 1990 and quickly became part of the show’s explosive storylines, including his troubled marriages to wives Sharon Watts (Letitia Dean) and Tiffany Mitchell (Martine McCutcheon).

He left the BBC soap in 1999, after ten years since his arrival in Albert Square and with several soap awards to his name.

Ross appeared again in 2005 and returned in 2016 for the funeral of his character’s mother, Peggy Mitchell, played by the late Dame Barbara Windsor.
