The Taxi Driver star even realized that he sees “a lot of similarity” between his youngest daughter and himself when he was her age, he said People on Wednesday.

The connection was undeniable when compared to photographs of himself as a young child with his father, the abstract expressionist painter Robert De Niro Sr., of whom he would later be the spitting image.

He was clearly taking it easy for some quality family time with the child he shares with partner Tiffany Chen, 45.

And despite some critics who have slammed De Niro and other longtime dads, like his friend Al Pacino, for having children so late in life, the Goodfellas actor chose to enjoy the “joy” his daughter brings him.

‘He’s such a cute baby. So sweet,” he said of the adorable toddler. “(When I) look at her, everything else disappears. So it’s a great joy and relief to just be with her in the moment.”

He added that his other children “all get a kick out of her.”

‘The grandchildren even. She’s their aunt – (and) they’re about to become teenagers!’ he joked.

De Niro moved on with his current love Tiffany in the wake of his 2018 divorce from his second wife, Grace Hightower.

The two had met years earlier, in 2015, when Chen, a martial arts instructor, had filmed a small role for his comedy The Intern, starring Anne Hathaway.

However, it wasn’t until 2021 that Robert and Tiffany were spotted together in public.

The couple has been noticeably quiet, saying almost nothing about their relationship, possibly in hopes of avoiding the publicity that followed his latest divorce.

When he revealed he had welcomed his new daughter last May, he didn’t even reveal who her mother was.

De Niro wasn’t even the first person to reveal Gia’s mother; instead, it was his About My Father costar Kim Cattrall who spilled the beans in an interview.

Despite their secretive ways, all seems to be going well between the Casino star and his latest love, who is regularly by his side at film festivals and high-profile public events.

Gia is the seventh child for De Niro, whose eldest, daughter Drena, is old enough to be Gia’s grandmother.

Drena, 52, was born in 1971 and is the eldest child of Diahnne Abbott, the actor’s first wife and her previous husband, but De Niro adopted her when he married Abbott in 1976.

De Niro’s family suffered tragedy when Leandro, the son of his model and film producer, died of an accidental overdose in 2023 at just 19 years old.

Robert and his wife Diahnne later welcomed their son Raphael, 47, who has become a successful real estate agent and has given his parents three grandchildren.

Following his divorce from Abbott in 1988, De Niro began dating Toukie Smith that same year, and in 1995 they welcomed twin sons, Julian and Aaron, 28.

Julian was the public face of the sons by making a name for himself as an actor in recent years, but Aaron was much more reclusive and little is known about him.

De Niro then married his second wife Grace Hightower in 1997, and the following year they welcomed their son Elliot, 25, who the actor later revealed had autism.

Before baby Gia arrived, De Niro’s youngest daughter was 12-year-old Helen Grace, whom he and Hightower welcomed via surrogate in 2011.

He shared with People that although Helen, he bore an especially strong resemblance to him as a child.

De Niro is doing his best to remain an active father, and he doesn’t seem to be slowing down on the acting front either.

His latest reunion with his long-time collaborator Martin Scorsese for Killers Of The Flower Moon earned the film star an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor.
