Former Nairobi Woman Representative hopeful Cecilia Wangari popularly known as Shosh is dead.
The proprietor of Shosh Sound Systems died on Friday evening after a short illness, according to Nairobi county chief dentist PJ Muriuki.
In September 2018, Muriuki restored Shosh’s smile and confidence when he replaced her missing teeth with a new set of dental implants.
In a Facebook post, the top dentist mourned the passing of the celebrated granny and gave a moving tribute.
“Exactly Five years ago to the date, my friend Lynn Ngugi introduced me to Shosh Cecilia. We restored her smile and later she became family.
I am afraid to be the bearer of sad news that she has passed on this evening after a short illness,” he posted.
“We celebrate a life well lived. I am glad that our paths crossed. Thank you for all the words of wisdom and impacting on my life. What an inspirational woman! Rest well Shosh,” Muriuki added.
Shosh was a sound system expert became an instant media sensation after she was widely featured personally fixing car stereos.
Known for her passion for modern music and speaking slang, Cecilia was a darling to people of all ages and social classes.
The 82-year-old granny owned and operated an audio shop on Outering Road in Kariobangi South where she employed four permanent workers.
In November 2021, Shosh made ripples in the local and international media when she announced her interest in the Nairobi Woman Rep position.
She joined President William Ruto’s UDA and was received by then party Secretary General Veronica Maina.
However, a few weeks later, UDA gave direct nomination ticket to Milicent Omanga who was defeated by Esther Passaris of ODM in the August 9, 2022 general election.
Her entry to politics at the advanced age, became a global inspiration story and a blessing to many noting the video of her interview was the most-viewed video for that week on Al Jazeera.
