Renowned musician Ustad Rashid Khan critically ill with prostate cancer

Renowned musician Ustad Rashid Khan is currently undergoing treatment for prostate cancer at a local healthcare facility, and reports on Sunday suggested that his condition is critical. The 55-year-old virtuoso is still on ventilator support as his health continues to be monitored closely. “Despite treatment, there has been no significant improvement in his health,” reported the hospital official in charge of Khan’s treatment to PTI. The same official also revealed that the musician’s health took a turn for the worse after he suffered a cerebral attack on Friday. Of note is that Khan belongs to the Rampur-Sahaswan Gharana, being the great-grandson of its founder, Inayat Hussain Khan.

Ustad Rashid Khan, an influential figure in the world of music, is battling prostate cancer and other age-related ailments. He is currently being treated in a Kolkata-based hospital, a representative informed PTI on December 27. His health status has largely remained stable, but he continues to be under observation in the intensive care unit (ICU). With a family lineage tracing back to Inayat Hussain Khan, the founder of the “Rampur-Sahaswan Gharana,” Khan’s contribution to music is noteworthy. However, his health is presently critical. According to PTI, Khan was first put on ventilator support on December 25 and initially responded well to treatment.

Sadly, his health deteriorated when he suffered a stroke. The official stated, “He has been put on a ventilator and his condition is critical.” Ustad Rashid Khan is a recipient of the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award and the Padma Bhushan. Some of his popular Bollywood songs include those from films like “My Name is Khan,” “Kadambari,” “Manto,” and “Mitin Mashi.” His most famous song, however, is the soulful “Aaoge Jab Tum Saajna” from the film “Jab We Met.”
