An Australian food blogger has made waves in the property market after purchasing a lavish $7 million mansion.

RecipeTin Eats founder and bestselling author Nagi Maehashi bought the Victorian-style home in Hunters Hill, northwest Sydney, in December.

The former Group Deputy Chief Financial Officer of construction company Multiplex rose to fame after starting her recipe blog RecipeTin Eats in 2011.

The foodie’s blog was turned into a book, RecipeTin Eats: Dinner, which made the New York Times Best Sellers list and won Book of the Year at the Australian Book Industry Awards for 2022.

The seven-figure price recently shelled out by Ms Maehashi dwarfs the renovated four-bedroom home’s previous price tag of $4.75 million when it sold in November 2019.

The mansion was sold off-market by Nicholas McEvoy of BresicWhitney, who also oversaw the 2019 sale.

The three-bathroom, two-car home is surrounded by a wraparound sandstone veranda and is just steps from the Lane Cove River and local schools.

The listing gives the house ‘impressive conservation, enjoying original character and modern improvements for a family lifestyle’.

It also features hardwood floors, a vine-covered outdoor entertainment area, a swimming pool and approved development applications for a ‘major renovation’.

Domain records show Ms Maehashi bought the Hunters Hill mansion after selling her Mona Vale home for $6 million, having bought it for $3.5 million in 2019.

Despite never working in a restaurant or undergoing formal chef training, Ms. Maehashi’s passion for food has helped RecipeTins grow into one of the largest recipe blogs in the world.

Aussies immediately loved her recipes, as they break down tough classics into home-cooked meals.

Ms. Maehashi has more than 1.3 million followers on Instagram.

She previously told Daily Mail Australia that she is working “a lot harder than I ever have in the business world” to capitalize on her virality.

“Most days I’m up to my armpits in food messes… experimenting, shooting or filming, chasing away a giant dog that thinks it can taste everything,” she said.

Her popularity led to RecipeTin Eats: Dinner becoming the best-selling book by an Australian debut author in its first week on shelves.
