Rainfall to pound most parts of the country through Wednesday – Met department

The met department has revealed that the rainfall witnessed in most parts of the country is set to persist until Wednesday, November 27, 2024.

In an update, the weatherman highlighted that the rainy streak will continue in the regions of Siaya, Kisumu, Homabay, Migori, Kisii, Nyamira, Trans Nzoia, Baringo, Uasin Gishu, Elgeyo-Marakwet, Nandi, Nakuru, Narok, Kericho, Bomet, Kakamega, Vihiga, Bungoma, Busia and West Pokot Counties.

While there will be pockets of rainfall being witnessed in some of these areas in the morning of Monday, November 25, 2024, all through to Wednesday, November 27, 2024, a significant majority of these areas will receive afternoon rains with thunder and lightning.

Similarly, the temperatures are expected to vary from as high as 32 degrees Celsius to as low as 10 degrees Celsius during the course of the next three days.

Northern region

In the North-Western counties of Turkana and Samburu, the rains are also expected to dominate the morning and afternoons, with temperatures ranging from 10 degrees Celsius to up to 37 degrees Celsius on more sunny days.

For the highlands East of the Rift Valley including Nairobi, Nyandarua, Laikipia, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Murang’a, Kiambu, Meru, Embu and Tharaka-Nithi counties, the rains are expected in a few places during the mornings but several areas will receive rainfall during this period.

Temperatures will also vary from lows of 10 degrees Celsius up to highs of 28 degrees Celsius.

Other regions

A similar trend will occur in the North-Eastern region areas of Marsabit, Mandera, Wajir, Garissa and Isiolo Counties where a few places are expected to receive morning showers, with several other places having more rains despite temperatures hitting up to 35 degrees Celsius.

For the South-Eastern lowlands of Kitui, Makueni, Machakos, Kajiado and Taita Taveta Counties as well as inland parts of Tana River counties, the weatherman predicts that minimal rainfalls over few places, with temperatures ranging from as low as 12 degrees Celsius to highs of up to 34 degrees Celsius.

However, for the coastal counties of Mombasa, Kilifi, Lamu and Kwale Counties as well as coastal parts of Tana River, there will be sunny intervals followed by mostly cloudy weather in most places. The temperatures in these regions are also expected to range from 23 degrees Celsius to 34 degrees Celsius.
