Partners who spent their twenties ‘proudly unemployed’ while making a living from comedy skits online were confronted with some harsh truths on their first day full-time corporate environment.

Jack Steele and Matt Ford, the Larrikin duo behind ‘The Inspired Uneloosen’, were recruited by Swiss Wellness to work on fresh ideas for the brand’s range of vitamin gummies.

What they didn’t expect, however, was how many unwritten rules there were to follow in an “adult” and super lush Australian office environment – especially if you are in your late twenties and have no business experience.

Even before their rise to Insta-fame, the duo, who hail from rural New South Wales, had nothing to do with the ‘corporate’ world. Matt had various apprenticeships as a landscaper, bricklayer and carpenter, while Jack worked as a plasterer in his father’s company.

Their move into comedy came in 2016 when they started doing satirical sketches with friends while living in New Zealand. They haven’t looked back and now boast millions of fans and their own TV show.

“It’s really been turned on its head, from tradies to campaigns, but it’s happened and it’s a lot of fun,” Jack told FEMAIL after the pair scored roles as “Chief Gummy Officers‘.

“We were actually on the golf course when our manager called us,” Matt added.

So it goes without saying that storming a slick headquarters in Melbourne in 2024 was fairly new territory for the pair, now aptly dubbed ‘The Inspired’ Employed‘.

“We recommend you start with a plan,” the pair admitted after their first week on the job.

‘Let’s give you a little push so you can start your first week with confidence.’

Office 101: How to sneak in health-promoting habits, even when you’re sitting at a desk

1. CHECK THE MILK

“I don’t mind telling people I’m lactose intolerant, but the last thing I want to do during my first week is show them,” Matt said.

‘If you’re on a diet, don’t dare, double check the milk before you have a cup of tea.’

2. TAKE NOTES

“People will throw everything at you in the first week, their name, internal acronyms, the Wi-Fi password…,” Jack warned.

“Do your future self a favor and write it down, even if it doesn’t really make sense, especially if it doesn’t make sense. ‘

3. BUY YOUR COFFEE (DO NOT BREW).

“A better strategy for your hot drinks is to find the local café and outsource the work,” said Jack, having learned about coffee problems the hard way.

‘Nothing says ‘I have no idea’ more than burning yourself on the milk frother and spilling ground coffee beans on the floor. Don’t be a hero.’

4. CHOOSE YOUR CLOTHES WISELY

“In retrospect, it probably wasn’t the right choice to take our wardrobe cues from Mad Men, but a full suit and tie outfit is no longer the norm,” Jack said.

5. CHECK YOUR WHITEBOARD MARKER

“If you feel the need to show your professionalism on a whiteboard, make sure it’s a whiteboard marker and not a permanent marker,” Matt warned.

“Or if you don’t, at least make sure you know how to spell the product you’re working on…it’s ‘gummies’ by the way.”

6. TAKE A MINUTE

“The first few days are packed, take the edge off by finding a quiet room and taking some time,” Matt suggested.

‘If you’re lucky like us Swissthere will be a special meditation room.’

You can read about the ridiculously enviable benefits the company offers here – including ‘floating leave’, dogs and flexible working. *Sigh*

Now that they’ve settled in, Matt and Jack will play a critical role in driving both innovation and expansion of the Gummies range.

Their goal? To put a fresh, comedic twist on the product development process.

They have already started working on a top secret concept that they say will “revolutionize” the landscape. While details remain under wraps, there’s no doubt that the pair will return soon with an (equally entertaining) update.
