PRESIDENT RUTO RETAINS FIVE CABINET SECRETARIES

President William Ruto has announced 11 new Cabinet Secretaries (CSs). And he retained five key figures from his previous government.

This comes weeks after he dismissed his entire cabinet, except for Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi.

The five retained Cabinet Secretaries include Kithure Kindiki for Interior and National Administration, Aden Duale for Defence, Alice Wahome for Lands, Public Works, Housing, and Urban Development, Soipan Tuya for Environment, Climate Change, and Forestry, and Davis Chirchir for Roads and Transport.

President Ruto has also nominated former Industry and Trade CS Rebecca Miano for Attorney General. She is set to replace former Attorney General Justin Muturi who resigned at the height of Kware murders, where close to 15 bodies were discovered dumped at an abandoned quarry-turned-dumpsite at the Mukuru kwa Njenga slums.

A Transformative Vision

President Ruto said that the new cabinet was chosen after extensive consultations.

“Our goal is to create a government that meets the diverse needs of Kenyans and drives economic growth,” Ruto said during his address at the State House on July 11, 2024.

With these appointments, the nation looks forward to the positive changes promised by President Ruto’s administration.
