Former nominated Senator Millicent Omanga has called on Kenyans to remain hopeful and supportive of President William Ruto amid ongoing protests against his government.
In a message shared on her X account on Thursday, July 18, 2024, Omanga expressed her confidence in Ruto’s dedication to addressing the concerns of the nation’s youth.
“By the way, the president is burning the midnight oil to implement the changes young people have fought for. This country is going to change for the better,” Omanga stated.
Omanga’s sentiments come after deadly protests led by the young population calling for the resignation of the Head of State and better governance.
Is Omanga Ruto’s administration ally?
Omanga insisted that she does not work with the government and does not benefit from government tenders.
The former nominated senator clarified that she makes her living solely as a private businesswoman.
“I need to clear a misconception. I neither work for the gov nor am I a tenderpreneur in this gov. I’m a private person doing private business. Isitoshe, I’ve never benefited from this gov either in cash or kind. Wanted to make this clear! Ready to respond to all quizzes,” Omanga stated.
When an X user questioned whether she had been earning a salary as a Chief Administrative Secretary (CAS) appointee for the Ministry of Interior, she firmly denied this, asserting that she is not employed by the government.
In May 2024, Omanga caused a stir on social media by showcasing a brand-new Range Rover, which she described as her latest purchase. Omanga shared photos of the vehicle on X from an undisclosed location, expressing gratitude to God for the achievement.
Her post received mixed reactions, with some netizens questioning the source of her wealth.
