A suspected burglar faced the wrath of angry residents in Pattaya after being caught attempting another break-in early this morning. The incident occurred today, July 1, at a villa village on Soi Thappraya 15, within the Nongprue sub-district of Banglamung district, Chon Buri province.
The alleged repeat offender, Thanapat Sangjamrang, was detained by the villagers before being handed over to the Pattaya police. He had sustained multiple facial injuries during the altercation. Upon arrest, Thanapat was found with several thousand baht in cash, which he had allegedly stolen after breaking into over three villas. All stolen items were seized as evidence by the officers.
Chatchai Thaentong, a caretaker of one of the affected homes, revealed that the suspect had targeted the village several times but had always managed to escape. Determined to catch the burglar, Chatchai collaborated with Pattaya police to stake out the area, ultimately leading to Thanapat’s capture.
“We knew he would return. The villagers and I were prepared this time.”
Officer Tassanai Termphon from the Pattaya Police’s investigative unit mentioned that his team had been on surveillance in the neighbourhood for three nights. Early this morning, they spotted Thanapat attempting to burglarize three homes. While exiting the third house, officers tried to apprehend him.
“He tried to flee, but the residents fed up with the repeated thefts, surrounded and physically restrained him.”
Thanapat remains in police custody as the investigation continues, reported Pattaya News.
In related news, Pattaya police successfully apprehended a seasoned thief involved in stealing from a dental clinic and confiscated stolen goods worth over 100,000 baht. During questioning, the thief’s partner arrived, wearing jewellery from another theft case, resulting in her arrest.
Police officers and an investigative team from Pattaya City Police Station today, June 26, apprehended 35 year old Sumpan under an arrest warrant issued by Pattaya Provincial Court on June 7 for theft in a residential area.
At around 3am on May 15, an unidentified male suspect broke into a dental clinic in Pattaya, Chon Buri Province, and stole various items, including 150,000 baht in cash, two mobile phones, an iPad, a gold bracelet, and several amulets. The suspect managed to flee the scene.
