ParalympicsGB celebrated their most successful day for gold medals this century, securing 12 golds on Sunday. This achievement brought their total gold medal count at the Paris Games to 24, more than doubling the 11 golds won in the first three days of competition. Victories in athletics, cycling, rowing, and swimming helped Great Britain surpass their previous daily record of nine golds, set in Beijing 2008 and Rio 2016.

The day began with Benjamin Pritchard’s win in the men’s single sculls at the rowing lake. At the Stade de France, Hannah Cockroft earned her fourth consecutive women’s T34 100m title, marking GB’s first para-athletics gold in Paris. Sabrina Fortune set a new world record with a 15.12m throw to claim the women’s F20 shot put gold.

Three golds came from the velodrome in Paris. James Ball won the men’s B 1000m time trial, Sophie Unwin triumphed in the women’s B 3000m individual pursuit, and Jody Cundy, Jaco van Gass, and Kadeena Cox secured victory in the mixed 750m team sprint. Additionally, three rowing golds were awarded, including wins by Lauren Rowles and Gregg Stevenson in the mixed double sculls and the mixed coxed four event.

In the swimming pool, ParalympicsGB continued their success with four more gold medals. Maisie Summers-Newton won the women’s SB6 100m breaststroke, Brock Whiston took gold in the women’s SM8 200m individual medley, Grace Harvey claimed the women’s SB5 100m breaststroke gold, and a team of four GB teenagers won the mixed S14 4x100m relay.

The team also earned six other medals on Sunday, bringing the day’s total to 18. This included athletics silvers for Kare Adenegan in the women’s T34 100m and Samantha Kinghorn in the women’s T53 800m.

At the end of day four, China led the medal table with 33 golds, 27 silvers, and 11 bronzes. Great Britain followed in second place with 23 golds, 12 silvers, and eight bronzes, while the United States held third place with eight golds, 11 silvers, and eight bronzes.
