Pantera extends 2024 reunion tour, promises unforgettable live performances

Pantera, the popular heavy metal band, is making waves on the internet as they announce the extension of their 2024 reunion plans. This comes after their initial reunion tour earlier this year, marking their first tour in two decades. The band, which includes Phil Anselmo, Rex Brown, Charlie Benante and Zakk Wylde, is set to support Lamb of God for 19 dates across North America in February. The tour will span several locations such as Sunrise, FL; Tampa, FL; Lexington, KY; and Nashville, TN, and will also include some new headline dates. This means fans will once again get to revel in Pantera’s electrifying live performances.

The extended tour offers fans a chance to witness the band’s dynamic live performances while also appreciating their legacy. The tour schedule becomes more intriguing with the addition of new Canadian stops in Winnipeg, Toronto, and Quebec City. Moreover, Pantera will join forces with Metallica in August, offering fans even more opportunities to see them perform live.

Established in 1981, Pantera is a renowned heavy metal band hailing from Arlington, Texas. The group’s core members were the Abbott brothers, Vinnie Paul and Dimebag Darrell. However, over the years, the band’s line-up changed, and Phil Anselmo and Rex Brown stepped in as lead singer and bassist, respectively. This line-up, along with the Abbott brothers, is considered one of the band’s most iconic.

The band’s musical style underwent a significant transformation from glam metal to a more aggressive sound after Anselmo joined in 1986. Their hit song “Cowboys from Hell” in 1990 marked the inception of the groove metal genre. From then on, Pantera became one of the most successful and influential heavy metal bands globally, selling approximately 20 million records and securing four Grammy nominations.

However, internal disagreements led to a hiatus in 2001, which eventually led to the band’s break-up in 2003. The band was dealt a devastating blow when Dimebag Darrell was tragically shot and killed on stage during a performance in 2004. Despite these hardships, Pantera’s influence on the metal scene remains profound, and their upcoming tour is a testament to their enduring popularity.
