Sudi might have edited the name later in life to obtain education papers as it was not his original name, an Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) investigator has found out.

This is after Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) investigator Derrick Kaisha reported confirming that he is not a diploma holder as he says.

During 2022 elections, the issue of academic qualifications for those aspiring for elective positions in the country was in and out of court corridors for a while.

The investigator told a court yesterday that rather, the lawmaker dropped out of school in class seven at Luok Ngetuny Primary School and never rejoined.

The investigator, Derrick Juma, has been following up on Sudi’s academic journey, following suspicions that the Uasin Gishu politician forged his academic papers and did not reach the college level as he claims.

The investigator also reported establishing that the name Sudi is now using was not his name then, and he went by the tag Kipchumba Kipng’etich instead.

Oscar Kipchumba Sudi, who rose from a humble beginning as a charcoal seller and tout to become the first Kapseret MP, after Eldoret South constituency was split to form Kapseret and Kesses.

“The only records we found of him being a student was at Luok Ngetuny Primary School where the teachers confirmed that he enrolled in 1995 under the name Kipchumba Kipng’etich, but that he exited the school at Class Seven,” he said in his submission.39847f39820542d8bb26e6056ee3fa59?quality=uhq&resize=720

Derrick now says that it is true that Sudi never went past the primary school level, and has also found out that he was not originally Oscar Sudi but Kipchumba Kipng’etich.

But Sudi on Thursday hit back, saying that he deserves to be lauded if he made it this far in life even after dropping out of school.“If I can manage to get this far just as class seven drop out then I deserve to be celebrated,” said the vocal Kenya Kwanza parliamentarian.

The MP has been captured saying his education was disrupted on many occasions, for lack of school fees. He says he was in and out of class many times and did menial jobs to support his family.

The investigator noted that Sudi never sat for his national exams, and therefore did not proceed to Highway Secondary School as he has been alleging.

Juma says that after visiting Luok Ngetuny Primary School to find out if Sudi learnt there, he found that he indeed did, but left the school at class seven, after which teachers could not trace his whereabouts.

He said the certificates Sudi presented as proof had the wrong secondary school name and the index numbers belonged to another candidate.

He added that the signatures on the school leaving certificate were faked, also saying that Sudi never got a diploma in business management at KIM college.
