An Ohio high school teacher is being threatened with dismissal after calling in sick for two days to attend a concert in Nashville, it is alleged.

Eileen Washburn, an English teacher at Lakota West High School in Liberty Township, near Cincinnati, has been placed on unpaid leave after the Lakota Local School District learned she was out.

At a school board meeting on Wednesday, members ruled that Washburn “faked sick leave” on Feb. 8 and 9 after telling her colleagues about her musical plans.

They decided to leave Washburn on unpaid leave until the next meeting, where they will vote on her dismissal.

In a statement, the school board said the teacher refused to answer questions about her whereabouts on those dates and refused to discuss details about why she needed those days off. It is unclear who she would have visited.

Interim Superintendent Elizabeth Lolli said the board will continue the teacher’s current unpaid suspension until the next vote on April 22 unless “Washburn submits a written document for hearing within the required time.”

According to the high school’s website, Washburn is an ESL teacher. She also serves on the board of a nearby school district, Loveland City School District.

According to her profile page on the Loveland City School District website, Washburn is married with children and has lived in the city of Loveland since 2005.

She previously taught at Princeton High School before moving to teach English at Lakota West High School in 2015.
