NYC straphanger stabbed during fight over subway seat

A Manhattan straphanger was stabbed during a fight with another man over a subway seat during the Wednesday evening commute, cops said. 

The 45-year-old victim was arguing with another man over a seat on board a Bronx-bound No. 5 train at East 125th Street and Lexington Avenue in East Harlem around 6:45 p.m., cops said. 

During the clash, the suspect plunged a knife into the victim’s stomach, police said.

The wounded man was taken to Lincoln Medical Center with a deep cut on his stomach, but his injury is described as non-life-threatening, police said. 

The suspect, believed to be in his 20s with his hair in a ponytail, fled off the train and was still being sought Thursday morning.
