Renowned Kenyan rapper Nyashinski has pulled down a substantial number of his hit songs from popular streaming platforms Apple Music and Spotify. The decision comes amidst reports of a fallout between Nyashinski and his longtime friend and music producer, Cedric ‘Cedo’ Kadenyi, over a lucrative deal valued at over Sh 10 million.

Previously accessible tracks such as “Mungu Pekee,” “Hapo Tu,” “Malaika,” “Aminia,” “Properly,” “Marathon Runner,” “Kabla Tudie,” and “Lift Me Up” are among those that have been pulled down from Spotify and Apple Music. Interestingly, these songs remain available on YouTube, suggesting a selective approach to their removal.

Nyashinski and Cedo Fallout

According to Ghafla News, the disagreement stemmed from a recent multimillion-shilling deal involving Nyashinski and a prominent telecom company. Nyashinski, who is entangled in a legal battle with Tecno Kenya, allegedly secured a significant jingle deal with the telecom giant and approached Cedo. And offered him Sh1 million to produce the songs.

Cedo initially accepted the offer. But the producer still sought to verify the true value of the deal through his contacts within the company.

Cedo discovered that the actual value of the deal exceeded Sh 10 million. And this significantly changed the dynamics of their agreement.

Feeling undervalued and possibly misled, Cedo demanded a higher compensation commensurate with the deal’s worth. Which led to a heated confrontation between the two longtime collaborators.

In response to the fallout, Nyashinski reportedly made the unilateral decision to remove most of his songs produced by Cedo from streaming platforms. This move not only affects Cedo’s potential royalties but also raises questions about Nyashinski’s own earnings from these popular tracks.

The abrupt removal of these songs has sparked discussions within the music industry and among fans, with many expressing disappointment over the loss of access to Nyashinski’s iconic tracks on their preferred streaming platforms.

As of now, neither Nyashinski, nor Cedo has publicly commented on the matter, leaving fans and industry insiders curious about the future of their professional relationship.

The fate of Nyashinski’s music catalog on streaming platforms is also still unclear.

Additionally, it remains to be seen whether the two will reconcile or if Nyashinski’s music will return to the streaming platforms anytime soon.

Stay tuned for more updates as this story continues to unfold.
