The Queensland estate is located on the shores of Murray Bay, just outside Bowen, and extends over 3.5 hectares of secluded land, including 250 meters of private beach.

Dubbed a ‘gateway to the Whitsundays’, the site has a true northerly orientation towards the water and features three detached houses and three self-contained units.

Current owner and former rugby league player Mike McLean purchased the tropical estate in 2020 from Hancock Prospecting, owned by Rinehart.

It was believed the property was used to house employees of Hancock Prospecting when it was owned by Rinehart.

The listing by Queensland Sotheby’s International Realty claims the property is “the only private retreat to grace Murray Bay.”

Additionally, the complex is only accessible through high-security gates that “declare its exclusivity from the road and ensure that each guest is welcomed by appointment only,” according to the listing.

The waterfront estate is “flanked by crown land and offers access to the bay only by foot” and also features a natural spring.

The property is zoned tourism/residential, which means it can be used as both a home and a resort.

“Whether you envision a premier resort, caravan park, lifestyle hotel/licensed venue, or want to keep this slice of paradise as your own private retreat, this estate provides a curated canvas for your greatest ambitions,” the listing says.

No asking price has been stated, but the owners are inviting expressions of interest.
