Nottingham Forest release incredible statement blasting ‘three extremely poor decisions’ during defeat at Everton and sensationally claim ‘the VAR is a Luton fan’… as Jamie Carragher labels online outburst ’embarassing’

Nottingham Forest have overturned three ‘extremely poor decisions’ regarding penalties that were not awarded in their favor in their 2-0 defeat to Everton.

The Midlands club – in the middle of a relegation battle at the bottom of the Premier League – claimed they had warned PGMOL over bias by a VAR official.

Forest also warned they would ‘consider their options’ after the defeat at Goodison Park.

On X (formerly Twitter), wrote the club: ‘Three extremely bad decisions – three penalties not given – that we simply cannot accept.

‘We warned the PGMOL before the match that the VAR is a Luton fan, but they didn’t change it. Our patience has been tested several times.

“NFFC will now consider its options.”

Mail Sports Mike Keegan wrote on X: ‘Perhaps unsurprisingly, the FA will investigate the Forest tweet. A points deduction is unlikely, but a hefty fine is not.’

Nottingham Forest manager Nuno Espirito Santo revealed after the match: ‘I don’t understand the reason for Anthony Taylor’s decisions and VAR because I see the footage.

‘But this is a general feeling we have, we try to ignore it and so often it repeats bad decisions against us, instead of deceiving us.

“Even when things are taken from us, it is very difficult to control. The players and I are trying to focus on football because it has been very difficult.

‘The situation we are in is not helping, now we have some stress and anxiety, but that is no excuse. It’s clear what’s happening to us, not just in this game.

‘I’ve seen the images. It’s hard to bear. It’s a pin on Gio Reyna, it’s a kick, it’s a handball and it’s understandable that as a club we are proactive because we want everything to be good.

‘We don’t want bad referees, we want good decisions. If we lose because of a bad game, we accept that, but it is disappointing in terms of decisions.”

Jamie Carragher agreed that Nottingham Forest should have been awarded a penalty after the ball struck Everton’s Ashley Young on the arm, but at the time it was believed the ball was in a ‘natural position’ for his movements.

After the match Carragher said: ‘It tells you where we are with the PL. Stuart Atwell and Anthony Taylor have had a terrible day today and they can rightly be criticized for that.

‘I understand the frustration, but that’s like a fan in a pub. That’s shameful from Nottingham Forest. Nonsense, about VAR, a Luton fan, you have to show a bit of class.

‘I understand the frustration, civil servants have had a bad day, but that’s nonsense, you can’t interfere with that.’

He later added: ‘Terrible of Stuart Atwell. He has to help Anthony Taylor.

“I can’t go back to this tweet. That last sentence, what options, are you going to stop playing, are you going to control all the officials in the country and not allow them to be present at these matches?’
