‘Nilikuwana naenda dunda’ – Rev Lucy Natasha narrates touching life experience before salvation

Popular preacher and founder of the Empowerment Christian Church (ECC) Reverend Lucy Natasha has left many inspired after sharing touching past life experiences before being born again.

Born and raised in the slums of Mathare, Nairobi County, the flamboyant preacher recalled how her parents struggled to bring them up in a one-roomed house.

Speaking during a candid interview with a local YouTuber, Rev Natasha revealed that growing up in the ghetto comes with a lot of challenges such as peer pressure and influences.

 She further disclosed that as a teen she used to go for jam sessions in clubs on Sundays after church.

 “I grew up in the ghetto and am actually proud of where I came from because that is where I received the salvation of life. I grew up in the slums of Mathare and I am a true example that your history does not determine your destiny, I am that ghetto girl that God picked. Mimi si barbie mi ni dem wa ghetto.

“Growing up you also have to face peer pressure, p****e trying to influence you, wanakuambia kuna jam session. Jam session nilienda, jam session ya Sunday afternoon after church, kuna reggae inachezwa you know all these places,tulienda dunda kiasi.

“Of course, as a young child, we used to go there we and come back home. My mum gave me a chance to be a child and also to learn,” Rev Natasha revealed.

Journey into ministry

The self-proclaimed Oracle attributed her spiritual journey to her mother and grandmother who are both preachers adding that coming from the lineage of pastors strengthened her faith and relationship with God.

“I come from a lineage of pastors, growing up my mum at that time was growing into ministry and her ministerial journey was progress. My grandmother is a pastor in the village and my mother by then was also growing into the call she went later on to start a church in the slum of Kawangware at a young age.

“My mum inspired me to love God and she didn’t pressure us to join the ministry,” she disclosed.

Natasha further narrated how she started preaching to her peers at the tender age of nine adding that she received her first miracle at the same age.

The ECC founder, at the age of 19, began full-time ministry as a travel minister.

“My calling into ministry came early. I started preaching when I was nine years old, I used to gather kids in the estate for bible studies and my first miracle God gave me at the age of nine.

“I was a shy child growing up I had speech problems, I had a stammering problem, God touched me and my stammering seized and I was able to communicate effectively and at the age of nineteen I began full-time ministry,” she narrated. 

Apart from preaching the stylish reverend is also an author, she has published 12 inspirational books.
