Kapseret Member of Parliament (MP) Oscar Sudi has pledged to improve Raila Odinga’s diehard supporter Nuru Okanga’s life.
Speaking during a live interview with a local YouTuber on Monday evening of August 19, 2024, Sudi who confessed to having experienced Okanga’s lifestyle in the past, made the life-changing announcement in the presence of the political activist.
Sudi surprised Okanga by offering to buy him a three-bedroom house unit under the affordable housing program and also pledged to provide Okanga with KSh 1.3 million as capital to start a sustainable business.
“Do you want Ksh3 million? Give me your account, and I will deposit the money for you. Not immediately; I will do it later,” the lawmaker said.
“However, regarding what I have arranged for you, do this: go and look for a house under the affordable housing scheme; find a three-bedroom house. And I want you to go to Kibera or Mukuru Kwa Njenga and look for a three-bedroom house. I have bought this for you as if I bought it for the children, and you should now start life and continue. Go and furnish everything, there is no place where affordable housing has not been launched. That’s what I thought I should help you with so that you understand matters of money.”
The lawmaker further asked Okanga to visit his office for legal guidance.
“Go and look, then come to my office tomorrow; there is a lawyer there who will guide you, explain the options, and help you find a house I can buy for you, even if it takes a year to complete. We will find one that is ready, and I will give you Ksh1.3 million, and then we will see,” he added.
Sudi, Okanga life experience
While Okanga was narrating his life experience, Sudi also confessed to having a humble beginning.
“Penye unaoga hapo nje kuna maji?“Sudi asked.
“Kwa ploti mahali nina kaa hakuna maji inakujanga nanunua, bibi ndio ananipelekea maji kwa bafu,“Okanga answered.
“Ata mimi nilipia hiyo, Mimi nilikuwa naoga kwa mtoni unaona ile maji inatembea, so nimekutafuta kwa sababu uko na mambo inafanana karibu na yangu niile mimi nilianza kazi mapema,”Sudi said.
Reason for helping
The MP said that his unexpected gesture would go a long way to stop Okanga from quoting exaggerated sums of money while making accusations.
Sudi wondered how much one needs to accumulate before they get to Ksh350 billion, questioning how many tonnes is equivalent to the amount.
