A new agreement between Airports of Thailand (AoT) and state-run bus operator The Transport Co, better known by its Thai initials BorKorSor (บขส), will introduce new bus services from Phuket International Airport before the year ends.

BorKorSor Acting President, Atthawit Rakjamroon, announced yesterday, July 9, that this initiative will see buses operating directly from three key airports managed by AoT: Suvarnabhumi Airport, Don Mueang Airport, and Phuket Airport. This plan results from successful discussions with AoT President Kerati Kijmanawat, aimed at boosting the tourism economy in major and secondary cities.

“The move aligns with the government’s policy to stimulate the tourism economy in main cities, secondary cities, and throughout the country.”

AoT will back the initiative by establishing ticket sales points, promoting public relations, and providing bus parking areas.

The new bus routes will connect these airports to primary tourist destinations and secondary provinces, including Pattaya, Chon Buri, Rayong, Chanthaburi, Trat, Nakhon Ratchasima, Hua Hin, and Prachuap Khiri Khan. Additionally, BorKorSor plans to introduce more buses along feeder routes from these airports to various provinces.

Atthawit highlighted that AoT has proposed adding routes from Phuket Airport to Khao Lak in Phang Nga province.

“Locals and tourists want better travel connections. Currently, travelling is quite expensive. Public buses would provide more options, increase convenience, and reduce travel costs. The BorKorSor has received suggestions for further actions.”

To ensure smooth implementation, BorKorSor will develop a comprehensive plan for ticket sales points at all three airports and finalise feeder routes as quickly as possible. The new bus services are anticipated to be operational within this year, promising enhanced connectivity and convenience for locals and tourists, reported Phuket News.
