The 14-part series starring Ambika Mod, 28, and Leo Woodall, 27, launched on February 8 and has since captivated hearts with its moving storyline and heartbreaking ending.
Adapted from David Nicholls’ best-selling 2009 novel, One Day follows the lives of Emma Morley and Dexter Mayhew, who first meet on their last day as students at the University of Edinburgh in 1988.
In each episode, the characters meet again every year on the same day, July 15, as they grow, face challenges and navigate their friendship through changing times.
And even American star Kim Kardashian has fallen in love with the story and is recommending the tearjerker to her 364 million fans on Instagram.

One Day has been watched by over 15.2 million viewers to date, with 5.3 million subscribers in its first week of release, followed by a whopping 9.9 million.
As of February 12, the show became the most watched English series worldwide as numbers are expected to continue to rise.
On Monday, Kim left series star Ambika, who plays Emma, stunned after posting: ‘And if you need a show… One Day on Netflix. A bit slow, but worth persevering because the ending… if you want a good cry.”
Ambika, also known for her starring role in BBC medical drama This Is Going to Hurt, shared Kim’s story on her profile and simply said: ‘F***.’
The fandom surrounding the adaptation is due to the on-screen appeal of its stars, including White Lotus heartthrob Leo, who plays Dexter.
Their undeniable and heartbreakingly palpable chemistry brought the characters’ love story to life and captivated the nation.
But Ambika, who loved the novel as a 14-year-old, almost didn’t audition for the role because of her fear of rejection.
She said: ‘I turned down the audition again and again for several months.

Ambika, pictured at the BAFTAs last year, told Graham Norton on his BBC show about her struggles as an aspiring comedian and actress
“I love the book so much and I just couldn’t see myself playing that role. I thought it was a waste of time. I foresaw the disappointment I would experience if I entertained the idea.”
During her recent appearance on the Graham Norton show, Ambika spoke about the difficulties she faced as a young comedian trying to make a name for herself in the TV industry.
She recalled the significance of Arthur’s Seat, which features in a poignant scene in the Netflix series, and climbing the mountain in Edinburgh for better or for worse.
She said: “My career started in comedy and stand-up and skits and improv. I’ve done a lot of Edinburgh Fringes, I’ve done every fringe from the ages of 19 to 23…
‘The last time I did the fringe was in 2019 and I was there the whole month and not really feeling in a great place, I was a bit lost, quite depressed and like I was getting somewhere…
‘Every year I do the edge with whoever is up there, we always climb Arthur’s Seat on our last day… I remember it was a terrible time, I didn’t love myself or my life.
Cut to almost exactly three years later, we filmed that scene just before the rim started in 2022 and I reached the top and starred in a Netflix series of one of my favorite books in a location that means so much to me. I… it was a full-circle moment.”
