Netflix has dropped the first trailer for the highly anticipated behind-the-scenes documentary about the USWNT’s World Cup disaster.
The streaming service was given access to the US squad as they attempted to defend their World Cup crown and win a third straight title in Australia and New Zealand this summer.
But what unfolded was nothing short of a disaster, and Netflix’s cameras were ready to capture it all as it unraveled on the other side of the world.
The defending champions crashed out of the last 16 on penalties against Sweden after struggling through the group stage, winning just one match in the entire competition – the first match against Vietnam.
It was also Megan Rapinoe’s last World Cup and she missed a penalty in the shootout against Sweden, before sparking anger from supporters at home as they ironically laughed at her miss.

Coach Vlatko Andonovski also resigned in the aftermath of their chaotic tournament with Chelsea manager Emma Hayes set to take over in the new year.
And now, fans get the chance to see exactly what happened when the bombshell documentary dropped on December 12 – just in time for some pre-Christmas viewing.
The action trailer, titled “Under Pressure,” released by Netflix on Tuesday, features players talking about how they can “never take winning for granted.”
Andonovski is also heard saying that he ‘knew what I was getting into’ when he took on the most high-profile job in women’s football and that he was aware that he had to ‘win every game’.
The much-maligned Rapinoe then talks about how the team had “used success to make things better” before another voice asked, “What does this team have to fight for?”
The documentary then hints that it will show how the team was razed to the ground.

The American team entered the competition as defending champions, but played terribly
Their World Cup experience is at one point compared to ‘the Hunger Games’, another says they are ‘not playing to our strengths’ and Andonovski’s lack of substitutes is described as ‘uninspiring’.
They are also accused of ‘taking it for granted’, with one voice admitting that the rest of the world has ‘caught up’ with the USWNT.
Forward Lynn Williams can even be seen crying in one scene as she says, “I’ve wanted this for so long.”
In addition to their on-field struggles, the team was widely criticized for seeming to focus on off-field exploits as much as their on-field success.
Two-time US World Cup winner Carli Lloyd covered the tournament as an analyst for FOX and was highly critical – especially when Rapinoe and Co danced on the pitch in celebration of reaching the knockout stages after a 0-0 draw with Portugal.
“I’ve never witnessed it before – I’m just seeing this footage for the first time at the station and I’ve never seen anything like it,” Lloyd said.
‘There’s a difference between respecting the fans and saying hello to your family, but dancing and laughing? The player of the match was the post. You’re lucky you’re not going home now.’
