According to an interview with Yvonne Kawira on Tuko Talks, Lilian’s husband woke up one morning and left her with two children, a boy and a girl. However, when it was time to take her son to high school it became hard since she had no money.
Lilian’s husband took action upon himself and took the boy to his father and the daughter to lilian’s mum. Lilian started looking for greener pastures and thats when she applied for a job in Saudi. Lilian’s Saudi boss came to pick her up from the airport wearing police uniforms.
They treated her well for the first few months but things started to change after a year. The boss and his wife would come home after work and start quarreling and throwing things at each other.
Lilian’s boss started touching her everytime she was in the kitchen preparing food or washing utensils. The boss used to force himself on her. One day the boss’ wife told her to go and eat with them since the husband had prepared a meal for all.
Lilian ate the food and later felt like her chest was burning,drying up, was sweating and felt tired. However, the next day Lilian was weak but prepares the children to school and after drank milk which gave her the energy.
Unfortunately, lilian’s feet would swell when she was in Saudi and then go back to normal. However, her health deteriorated and requested her boss to take her to the hospital but refused.
At last the boss took Lilian to the hospital but was not treated and went back to the house. She was mistreated and used to drink toilet water. Lilian’s contract ended but still the boss did not want to release her and so she filed a complain to the agent who talked to the man and after started processing the documents. Unfortunately, she was received by anyone at the airport.
Lilian came back to Kenya while not walking due to her ailment and went first to her friend and when her mother saw her did not receive her well and told her she was a burden to them. Lilian moved from their home and came to Kenya where she stays in a church.
She said,
“My Saudi boss forced himself on me and i returned to Kenya in a wheelchair.”
