My Kitchen Rules judge Colin Fassnidge slams rivals Married At First Sight and The Block as ‘all fighting’

Colin Fassnidge has condemned rival reality shows Married At First Sight and The Block for their frequent drama.

The My Kitchen Rules judge says viewers are flocking to his cooking series because it doesn’t focus on competing contestants and the new season continues that trend.

“It’s a healthier, more fun show, unlike the Block, which is all fighting, and MAFS, which is all fighting,” the chef tells the Herald Sun.

“I’ve seen the cast and we’ve got some funny, nice people, some good characters, some really nice people, some good stories. It’s going to be good.’

Fassnidge added that Channel Seven’s My Kitchen Rules has previously received strong ratings – and that speaks for itself.

“All I’m saying is that last year was so good – we beat The Block – that people want more, they want more,” he said.

The beloved TV chef has also joined the cast of Better Homes and Gardens for 2024.

He replaces outgoing chef and presenter ‘Fast Ed’ Halmagyi, who left the lifestyle program Channel Seven in 2023 after twenty years.

‘Working on Better Homes and Gardens really feels like coming home. “I have been friends with Johanna since I started at Channel 7, and the rest of the cast and I get along great,” Fassnidge said in a statement.

“I can’t wait to hit the road and travel this beautiful country, cooking with the best and freshest produce in the world,” he said.

The Dublin-born presenter promised to bring his ‘passion, humor and cheeky Irish flair’ to the series, as he shows viewers how to create ‘simple, quick and affordable recipes that anyone can make and enjoy at home’.

Speaking to 7LIFE, Fassnidge admitted that filling Fast Ed’s shoes would be a challenge.

‘It’s a bit scary, but it’s a good challenge and a lot of fun too. This show means a lot to a lot of people,” he said.
