Muigai wa Njoroge’s first wife recalls begging co-wife to return after relocating to US

In her effort to salvage her marriage, popular Kikuyu artiste Muigai wa Njoroge‘s first wife Gladys Njeri reached out to her co-wife Queen Stacy.

Speaking during her appearance for an interview on Thursday, January 25, 2024, Njeri revealed that nine years into her marriage, the singer married a second wife and moved in with her.

Njeri was left alone with her three children and drowned in alcoholism. Njeri said she fell into alcoholism and for about two years, she would drink every day and sometimes overnight to deal with the pain.

“I used to drink from morning to evening and at the time I was broke. I was bitter and I hated men. I even contemplated suicide,” she stated adding that she lost her car to her co-wife.

Five years later, she was able to cope and accept the situation however she notes she does not appreciate how she handled the situation.

Later, she re-started her faith journey and started going to church and revived her music career.

However, in a plot twist, she would later resort to alcoholism after her husband sang a song dedicated to the second wife dubbed ‘Baby‘.

After a while, the 41-year-old said she reconciled with her husband and they conducted their traditional wedding otherwise known as Ruracio among the Kikuyu community. Muigai also dedicated a song to her dubbed ‘Waku wa Muico‘.

Muigai sang “…although I delayed marrying you first, I’m dedicated to becoming your last lover.”

Later Njeri Muigai gave birth to her fourth born- a daughter named after her mother.

However, she painfully recalled the reconciliation process was abrupt and they just swept their marital issues under the rug.

“It is very unfortunate because we did not even discuss a thing. I never got a chance to speak up on all the pain he had caused me,” she said.

Notably, during this time, Queen Stacy had relocated abroad but she decided to ask her to return and work on their polygamous marriage.

“She did not just come, I called her to relocate back to Kenya to help salvage the marriage,” Njeri revealed saying at the time Muigai had taken all the children to live with them.

After her return, they let netizens into their private marital life by going public on social media.

Unfortunately, the blissful days did not last and despite her efforts, her marriage later crumbled down and she has since separated from the singer.

According to her, she “tried her best to fix her marriage but it never worked”.

The mother of four while speaking to Muthoni wa Kirumba alias BabyTop on Kameme FM did not give timelines and failed to clarify whether she has signed the divorce papers.

“So, are you married?” Baby Top inquired to which Njeri Muigai responded saying; “Not any more. We tried our best but it did not work.” The quote was loosely translated from her Kikuyu verbatim.

The 41-year-old, however, hailed her former partner for being a great father to their children and wished him and his new partner blessings.
