A section of Mt Kenya East leaders are celebrating a heavy downpour that was witnessed in the region shortly after the swearing-in of Kithure Kindiki as Kenya’s new Deputy President on Friday, November 1, 2024.

The leaders who were joined by locals believe the rainfall is no coincidence, but a sign that Kindiki’s leadership is blessed from above.
The rains surprised the residents across Embu and other parts of the Mt Kenya region on how it poured down moments after Kindiki lifted the Bible and assumed the office of the second in command in the country.
They say the sky had been painfully clear for days, as the impeachment drama of former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua unfolded.
However, the moment Kindiki lifted the Bible during his swearing-in ceremony held at KICC, a heavy cloud mysteriously rolled over the region, followed by a refreshing downpour that night.
“We had given up on the rains, but when Kindiki lifted that Bible, God lifted our clouds. We went from scorching sun to showers of blessings! Indeed Kindiki’s position is from above,” Political lobbyist and youth leader Kiragacha Mwaniki stated
The sentiment was echoed by Joel Mugambi, who not only praised Kindiki as a “man of peace with a hospitable mien” but also suggested that the rain is nature’s way of endorsing Kindiki over Gachagua.
“The clouds disappeared when Rigathi’s impeachment process began, but with Kindiki, even nature is giving its nod,” he noted.
The Mt Kenya East residents also termed Kindiki’s appointment as historic, marking the first time a leader from the region has ascended to such a significant national office.
Confidence in Kindiki
Ann Kangai, beamed with pride, expressed confidence that Kindiki will serve the Kenyans equally as he has done before in his interior docket.
“We have never held such a seat, and now even the rain is applauding. Kindiki is our golden goose and we expect more goodies for all Kenyans,” she stated.
The leaders called for unity, urging residents from Mt Kenya West to rally behind Kindiki for the good of the region.
Mwaniki further requested Kindiki to engage President William Ruto about redesigning the Mau Mau Road to benefit both sides of Mt Kenya.
“The Mau Mau Road was a promise to all of us. Let’s make sure the rain falls on everyone’s side – East and West. I am calling on our deputy president to reach out to President Ruto for redesigning,” he observed.
