A tragic road accident in Chon Buri claimed the life of a 40 year old man when he lost control of his motorcycle and crashed into a bridge’s guardrail. The incident occurred in the early hours of the morning as the man was returning home.
In the predawn hours today, an urgent call was received by Deputy Investigator Police Lieutenant Phasit Suwansawang from Samet Police Station, reporting an accident on the curve of the new bridge along the coastline at Section 5, Moo 1, Samet Subdistrict, Mueang Chon Buri District. Police and emergency personnel from Chon Buri Hospital and the rescue team from Thamarasami Maneerat Foundation were dispatched to the scene.
Upon arrival, they discovered 40 year old, Kriengkrai (surname withheld), in critical condition. He had suffered severe head injuries and a broken right arm. Despite the rescue team’s efforts to resuscitate him, Kriengkrai succumbed to his injuries.
The motorcycle, a black and red Honda CBR with the license plate 4กท5514 Chon Buri, was found nearby with significant damage to the front, and the rider’s shattered full-face helmet was found on the ground.
A 22 year old, Korwin (surname withheld) who was with the victim and witnessed the accident, told authorities they were a group of seven people riding on three motorcycles. They had been hanging out on the new bridge at section 4.
Kriengkrai, who worked in event decoration, was on his way back to his residence in Bang Saen when the accident happened. According to Korwin, Kriengkrai was driving fast and lost control of his bike on the curve, leading to the fatal crash.
The police instructed the rescue team to transport the body to Chon Buri Hospital for an autopsy and to wait for the family to claim it for funeral rites. As the local community mourns the loss of one of their own, questions are raised about the safety measures in place on this stretch of the road and whether more can be done to prevent such tragedies in the future.
