A mother’s worst nightmare became reality when Gladys Kipkorir received a devastating phone call. Her son, Benedict Kiptoo, a Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) student, was attacked and fatally wounded by his girlfriend, just days before his graduation, scheduled for December 5.
Kipkorir was at work when the call came. She was told to rush to Cherangany Hospital Mortuary. Confused and scared, she asked what had happened.
“I was told my son had been injured, but I didn’t understand how bad it was,” she said.
“When I got there, I found my son had been stabbed in the chest. He was gone.”
Kiptoo was only 24 years old and excited about his upcoming graduation. His family had been looking forward to celebrating his hard work. Instead, they are now mourning his death, pleading for justice.
Why was KMTC Student Benson Kiptoo Killed?
His live-in girlfriend, a 24-year-old waitress, allegedly stabbed him during a fight, suspecting him of infidelity. Neighbors heard a loud commotion and rushed to Kiptoo’s home, where they found him lying in a pool of blood.
A doctor nearby tried to save him, but he died on the way to the hospital.
Police are investigating and recovered the weapon, a kitchen knife, at the scene. Kiptoo’s family is devastated and wants justice.
“We just want answers for our son,” Kipkorir said, her voice trembling with grief.
The family’s pain is immeasurable, and they are left with only memories of the young man who was taken from them too soon.
