Photos revealing Kennedy Onyango laying on the ground lifelessy after being shot on the shoulder, shocked the nation and sparked calls for justice.

Kennedy, who had only moved to live with his mother in Nairobi last year and did not yet know Kiswahili well, had gone out to borrow a book before tragedy struck. According to a good samaritan, Kennedy passed away before being taken to hospital.

She learnt of her son’s death after watching a TikTok video of the incident. She only got the courage to go view his body at Ongata Rongai Funeral home the next morning.

The postmortem examination the 12-year-old’s body revealed he died from a single gunshot wound on his shoulder. The bullet hit him at the back and exited through his chest.

Eric Omondi, deeply moved by the family’s plight, urged support for Kennedy’s mother. “I just spoke to her; she os devastated. Let us honor Kennedy as a hero and remember him as a symbol of our fight. Team Sisi Kwa Sisi, contribute to support her. Let us stand together!” he passionately posted.
