A body believed to be that of Victoria Mumbua Muloki, the missing taxi driver from Mombasa, has been discovered.
She went missing on September 25, 2024, after agreeing to transport a client from Mombasa to Samburu, and back.
On September 29, the police found Victoria Mumbua’s body in a thicket near a road in Lari, Kiambu County after the main suspect, Edwin Ng’etich, led them to the location. Ng’etich revealed the body’s whereabouts during an intense interrogation following his arrest, where he was also found in possession of her stolen vehicle.
The body was taken to the Nairobi City Mortuary.
Victoria’s family, based in Mombasa, has been informed of the discovery. They are expected to travel to Nairobi for further identification, including DNA profiling, to confirm the body’s identity.
Her brother, Meshack Kings, expressed deep grief over her tragic death, stating, “They killed her.”

Investigators revealed that Ng’etich had been involved in similar criminal activities in the past. His arrest is seen as a critical step in resolving the case, but police are still piecing together the events that led to Victoria’s murder. A postmortem is planned to determine the exact cause of death.
A Family Deceived
During the search for Victoria, the police allegedly falsely claimed that she had been found alive, albeit hurt, in Migori County.
They were conned out of KSh 20,000 by an individual claiming to be a police officer who asked for the money to facilitate the airlifting of her body to the hospital, which was false.
