“I Don’t Give a Damn” singer Mercy Atis did not have it easy after moving abroad aged 18. In fact, she was at one time imprisoned and then deported, in her birthday suit!
She narrates her near sexual encounter with a dog in her quest to make more money.
“I was a naive 18-year-old villager without guidance,” she reflects.
“And I was a first-generation immigrant who arrived in the U.S. with a very limiting student visa.”
Upon arriving, she discovered that her study program was not fully funded, contrary to what she had been promised.
And she did not qualify for a scholarship as she was on a student visa.
Thus began her journey of trying to survive in a foreign land.
“At one point, I ended up homeless and was just trying to do anything to survive—anything to ensure I could eat and send money home so my sister could go to school.”
One day, a man she met randomly convinced her that she “was beautiful enough to work as a stripper.”
Initially, she initially dismissed the idea due to her strict Seventh-day Adventist upbringing.
But eventually, Mercy Atis took the plunge at 21 when life became difficult.

The gig proved lucrative, and she was making up to $400 a day.
“One day, a white man came to the club, and after I entertained him in the VIP section, he lured me with the promise of making more money than I could as a stripper. So, I got into his car, and we drove a long distance.”
As they drove to the destination, she noticed many large industrial complexes.
But she had no idea they were actually adult film studios.
Mercy described arriving at a well-secured place surrounded by high walls. After the man who drove her there left, she met the owner of the studio.
She calls him “The Director,” a short man in his early forties, who complimented her on her beautiful skin and expressed interest in shooting movies with her while touching her body.
He offered her $5,000 for a movie role, and Mercy Atis was intrigued.
However, the director gave her a shocking condition: she had to audition for the role by having sex with him “to see how it would be in the movies.”
With the enticing $5,000 in mind, she initially welcomed the idea.
But just as she undressed and prepared for the audition, he brought out a large, panting dog.
“I have never been so scared in my life,” she recalls.
Mercy, now terrified out of her mind, began screaming.
And, eventually, the director contained the dog and locked it out of the room.
Despite his insistence, Mercy was no longer willing to proceed.
So the Director drove her back home.
“I don’t want to hear anyone saying that I did it with a dog. Even if I did, I wouldn’t tell you guys,” she said, laughing it off.
“Don’t play with America now; you will see.” She concludes
