Meghan Markle, Prince Harry ‘are focusing on future projects’ after Emmy snub: expert

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are keeping it moving.

While the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s Netflix documentary series “Harry & Meghan” wasn’t picked up for an Emmy nomination, the exiled royals are already “focusing on future projects,” according to a Hollywood PR expert.

The show failed to score any Emmy nominations when they were announced earlier this week despite the project bringing in a total of 81.6 million hours watched.

But according to PR to the Stars Mayah Riaz, the snub has “no impact on their career” despite reports of the couple being “devastated” by the news.

“Harry and Meghan didn’t get an Emmy nomination. It might have been disappointing but that’s all it is, disappointing. Not the end of the world,” Riaz told The Mirror.

“Sometimes award snubs, such the Emmy are a bigger deal for everyone other than Harry and Meghan. This has no impact on their career at all.”

Riaz said it’s unlikely that the pair, who wed in 2018, made the documentary with the focus of it winning an award.

“Yes, award nominations and wins would be great but their reasons for doing the Netflix docuseries aren’t for these nominations. They have their own reasons for it, which are bigger,” she told the outlet.

But despite the doc not scooping any Emmy nods, it did receive a nomination for the Hollywood Critics Awards in the Best Streaming Nonfiction category.

The news follows hot on the heels of the Sussexes’ media empire seemingly crumbling, where they lost out on their $20 million Spotify contract.

There were just 12 episodes of Markle’s podcast “Archetypes,” which featured guests like Serena Williams, Mariah Carey, Mindy Kaling and Paris Hilton.

The podcast was not renewed for Season 2, however, they still have one big deal in their arsenal to fall back on.

Spotify’s axing had since forced Netflix to speak out on its partnership with the Sussexes, saying the streamer has no plans to put an end to its working relationship with the couple.

The pair penned a $100 million agreement in 2021 to create shows and other content with the streaming service.
