Meg Ryan was all smiles as she spent her Wednesday evening with a friend in New York City.

The 61-year-old actress was spotted in the Soho neighborhood of New York City during an outing with a friend.

The outing comes just days after it was revealed that her first film in eight years – What Happens Later – was delayed to get out of the way of Taylor Swift’s concert film.

Ryan stepped out wearing an Army green dress that fell to her calves, with a black purse slung from her shoulder

She accessorized with a beaded bracelet and a silver ring for the Soho outing on Wednesday evening.

She completed her look with black Doc Martens flat shoes as she was seen walking back to her vehicle.

Ryan is slated to make her return both in front of the camera and behind it with the new film What Happens Later.

The film – which Ryan also co-wrote, adapted from Steven Deitz’s 2008 play Shooting Star – follows her character Willa and her ex Bill (David Duchovny).

They haven’t seen each other in years, when they both find themselves snowed in at an airport overnight.

The film was originally slated to hit theaters from indie distributor Bleecker Street on October 13, though that changed earlier this month.

What Happens Later was one of the many films that shifted their release to make way for Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour concert film, slated for release on October 13.

Ryan’s new film will now be released on November 3, the final weekend The Eras Tour will be in theaters.

Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour has already taken in a whopping $37 million in pre-sales, with box office analysts predicting an opening weekend north of $70 million.

The last film Ryan starred in also happened to be her first film as a director, 2015’s Ithaca, a coming-of-age story set in 1942 during World War II.

She also starred in that film along with her son Jack Quaid, Alex Neustadter as the 14-year-old telegram messenger who comes of age, and Tom Hanks as her on-screen husband.

Ithaca marked Ryan and Hanks’ fourth movie together following 1990’s Joe Vs. the Volcano, 1993’s Sleepless in Seattle and 1998’s You’ve Got Mail.

It’s unclear if she has another directorial project lined up at this time, though that may be announced closer to the What Happens Later release.
