Mauricio Pochettino admits he feels the lack of love from Chelsea fans after their booing during Saturday’s draw, but has defiantly vowed to win them over – if the club’s owners are given the time.

The supporters chanted for their manager to ‘f*** off’ as they relied on a late Axel Disasi equalizer at the Gtech Community Stadium, and Pochettino said after this disappointing draw of the anger shown towards him: ‘I don’t worry. We must accept this relationship.

‘Someone asked me: do you feel love from the fans? No, you build a relationship between the coach and the fans by winning games, but at the moment we cannot live up to expectations.

“If we don’t meet expectations, am I going to ask for love? Normally in football you show your frustration to the coach, the people above. I won’t ask for nothing. I will continue to work and try to change this perception and win matches.

‘We now have a week to prepare for Newcastle. We have to keep a certain reality in check. We work very hard to win games. The team is fighting.”

Pochettino celebrated his 52nd birthday at Brentford and said he is old enough to know that if he does not perform he will be sacked.

“I know this business very well,” he said, suggesting Chelsea’s schedule is hurting them.

‘But I will never give up. I’m going to fight again tomorrow and after that and the next match. We will continue.

‘The commitment of the players is enormous. We are suffering because of the fixtures.”

Brentford boss Thomas Frank took aim at the supporters who booed when they were 1-0 down at half-time.

“Is that support?” said Frank. ‘Brentford against Chelsea, one of the biggest clubs in the world, we are down 1-0. I can’t swear, but what… I would like to speak to the fans who booed.’
