A clandestine methamphetamine production operation was dismantled in Suphan Buri, Thailand, after a joint police raid, resulting in the seizure of over four million methamphetamine pills and the arrest of two key suspects.
Late yesterday, under the management of high-ranking officers including the Region 7 Chief of Police and his deputies, along with the Suphan Buri Provincial Police, a covert drug enforcement team executed a meticulously planned operation.
The police arrested 38 year old Somprasong and 40 year old Tatchakorn, both Sa Kaeo residents living in the Suphan Buri area. They are now facing serious charges related to the illegal manufacture and distribution of a Category 1 narcotic, methamphetamine, often known as Yaba.
The raid yielded a staggering 4,298,000 pills found in 11 sacks and another 136,000 pills in 68 bundles.
Additionally, approximately 6 kilogrammes of methamphetamine powder, packed in orange clumps within a purple plastic box, and another 9 kilogrammes in a white sack, were seized.
The raid also uncovered a machine used for grinding the pills into powder and a tablet press, both essential tools for drug production, located on the third floor of the suspects’ residence. The authorities also confiscated a white Honda Freed with a Bangkok license plate and two mobile phones.
The suspects have been handed over to the Narcotics Suppression Bureau for further legal proceedings. The initial charges levelled against the suspects include the unauthorized sale and distribution of narcotics, specifically for trade and public dissemination.
This significant bust is part of an ongoing crackdown by the Narcotics Control Board’s Region 1 officers, who, after apprehending drug traffickers, expanded their investigation leading to this major arrest, reported Khaosod.
The operation underlines the relentless efforts by Thai authorities to combat drug trafficking, which remains a critical issue in the region.
The success of this raid is expected to have a substantial impact on the local drug trade, disrupting supply chains and sending a strong message to those involved in the narcotics industry. The police are determined to continue their investigation and extend their reach to apprehend any additional individuals connected to this network.
