Manchester United outcast Mason Greenwood was on target again for Getafe in their 2-0 LaLiga win against Granada on Monday evening.

Greenwood left Old Trafford on loan last summer after agreeing with the club that it was best for him to resume his career elsewhere after being arrested in January 2022 on suspicion of a number of charges, including attempted rape.

The Public Prosecution Service subsequently dropped the charges in February 2023, but Greenwood was loaned out to Getafe and he has made a positive start in Spain.

He scored his fourth league goal of the season on Monday when he opened the scoring with a delicate finish near the post.

Greenwood cut inside on his favored left foot and clipped an effort from just inside the area that wrong-footed goalkeeper Augusto Batalla and found the corner of the net.

His strike in the 21st minute put Getafe under control, and fellow striker Borja Mayoral doubled the hosts’ lead fifteen minutes later.

Getafe finished the match with minimal fuss and remained in 10th place, while Granada remained in the relegation zone and are six points adrift of safety.

Greenwood’s loan deal at Getafe expires this summer, while his contract with United expires in June 2025.

But the 22-year-old is reportedly keen to stay in Spain and has reportedly told his advisers that a £40million move to Barcelona would be a dream move for him.

It is believed that Real Madrid and Bayern Munich are also monitoring Greenwood’s progress at Getafe as they consider a move for the striker.
