Marie Osmond, renowned for her illustrious career in show business, is now gracing the soap opera world with her debut in the role of Countess Von Frankfurt in “The Bold and the Beautiful” on CBS, commencing Friday, October 27. However, it is not her exploits in the entertainment sector that are currently drawing attention, but her views on inheritance and her children’s financial future.

In a candid discussion with The Post, Osmond, a mother of seven, shared her belief that leaving a substantial inheritance to her children could potentially stifle their drive. She has observed that the promise of a sizable inheritance often acts as a deterrent to hard work and the invaluable lessons that come with it.

Osmond feels that the experience of self-reliance and the satisfaction of earning one’s self-esteem are integral to personal growth. She believes that a windfall in the form of inheritance might rob her children of these crucial life lessons.

Earlier this year, Osmond made waves when she declared that her wealth would not be passed down to her children, arguing that it could foster laziness. The singer, whose husband is Stephen Craig, has also faced tragedy with the loss of her son Michael, who tragically took his own life in 2010.

Osmond’s thoughts echo the sentiments of other luminaries such as Warren Buffet, Sting, and Mick Jagger, who have also chosen not to leave the lion’s share of their wealth to their children.

However, Osmond clarified that this decision doesn’t mean she won’t be providing her children with some assistance. She expressed her pride in her children’s ability to earn their own living, praising their hard work and dedication. Each of her children has chosen to contribute to society in their way, from helping rehabilitate drug addicts to assisting elderly, mentally challenged individuals.

As far as her wealth is concerned, Osmond wants to savour the fruits of her labour, accumulated over nearly six decades in the entertainment industry. The money she has earned, she says, will be spent on fulfilling her bucket list and enjoying her time with her husband.

In essence, Osmond’s stance on inheritance is clear – she believes in the joy of hard work and the importance of her children earning their self-esteem. This belief is reflected in her decision to leave her children a legacy of resilience and independence, rather than a hefty financial inheritance.
