Margot Robbie sent her fans into a frenzy on Saturday when she attended the Screen Actors Guild Awards in a statement dress inspired by her Barbie role.

The Australian actress, 33, turned heads as she arrived at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles wearing a black Schiaparelli dress with dramatic pink fabric that wrapped around her shoulder and waist and ended in a train.

Many of her fans took to social media to condemn the unique design.

“Why do they keep doing this to her?” one person asked, while a second person added: “She doesn’t look comfortable.”

“This is the biggest WTF dress I’ve seen in a while,” a third person commented.

“She wrapped an eight year old’s duvet around her and said, ‘Let’s go,’” another added, while a fan joked: “You must subconsciously hate one of the most beautiful women in the world to dress her in this, absolutely shameful. ‘

“I can’t believe I’m about to say this but that is possibly the worst look I’ve ever seen on Margot – I mean WTF is that growth/doona coming out of her LBD,” wrote yet another.

Meanwhile, others defended her style choice, with one fan claiming the Australian star ‘looks great in anything’.

“She still looks beautiful, I don’t mind the dress at all,” another added, while one said they were excited that she was starting to leave her “Barbie era.”

“Omg, she’s literally *losing* her Barbie era! So good,” they exclaimed.

Margot was nominated for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Leading Role for her performance in Barbie, but lost to Lily Gladstone for Killers of the Flower Moon.

Margot’s black and bubblegum pink Schiaparelli Couture gown featured a black strapless mini dress with a pink accent along the waist and shoulder.

The Queensland-born star styled her long blonde hair in waves with a side parting and wore a simple makeup look consisting of peach blush, mascara and soft pink lipstick.

At one point, the star was joined on the red carpet by her British producer husband Tom Ackerley, who looked dapper in a black suit and matching T-shirt.

After a tough 118-day strike, the Screen Actors Guild honored the top performers in film and television at the 30th annual SAG Awards.

The winners were determined by SAG-AFTRA members, who voted for their favorites in a number of categories.

Issa Rae and Kumail Nanjiani announced the nominations on Instagram Live earlier this year, with Barbie and Oppenheimer leading the film nominations with four nods each.
