Barbie-Mania has swept across Australia as Margot Robbie prepares to release her much-anticipated comedy based on the iconic Mattel doll.

Thousands of fans descended on Sydney’s CBD on Friday to catch a glimpse of the glamorous Hollywood star.

And the Aussie actress certainly didn’t disappoint, signing autographs and posing with fans at Westfield in Pitt St.

Just like she has for the entire Barbie promo tour, Margot, 33, dressed the part in a pale pink sweater paired with a matching metallic pink leather mini skirt.

She teamed the outfit with pink socks and white designer loafers and accessorised with white retro-style sunglasses.

She looked picture perfect with her platinum blonde locks coiffed in perfect waves which cascaded around her shoulders and a pink gloss painted on her pout.

Margot arrived into Sydney on Wednesday with her husband Tom Ackerley and her co-star America Ferrera.

Barbie is ‘a fish-out-of-water story about a doll who is ousted from toy society for not being perfect enough.’

Another synopsis on IMDB of the movie reads: ‘A doll living in “Barbieland” is expelled for not being perfect enough and sets off on an adventure in the real world. A Live-action feature film based on the popular line of Barbie toys.’

Oscar winner Ryan Gosling is starring opposite Margot as he takes on the role of Barbie’s boyfriend Ken.

Will Ferrell is said to be playing the CEO of the toy company that may or may not be Mattel.

Little Women and Ladybird filmmaker Greta Gerwig is directing the project, and wrote the script for the film with her longtime partner Noah Baumbach.

Other members of the cast include Kate McKinnon, Michael Cera, Emma Mackey, Kingsley Ben-Adir, America Ferrara, Rhea Perlman, Ariana Greenblatt, Ana Cruz Kayne, Alexandra Shipp, Ritu Arya, Sharon Rooney, Connor Swindells, Scott Evans and Jamie Demetriou.

Fans think Emma will be playing the role of Skipper, the younger sister of Barbie, thanks to her resemblance to Margot.

Also linked to the film are Bridgerton’s Nicola Coughlan, actress Saoirse Ronan and pop sensation Dua Lipa – but these have not yet been confirmed.

It has been rumoured that there will be different versions of Barbie and Ken, with one Barbie said to be portrayed by Issa Rae and the other might be Hari Nef.

Marvel’s Simu Liu and new Doctor Who Ncuti Gatwa are also said be playing other Kens.
