A Kisumu man is facing a legal battle after he was accused of inappropriately touching a minor at the United Mall in Kisumu.
The incident occurred when the man, who had been sent to shop by his wife, was passing through security screening at Carrefour, a supermarket in the mall.
According to CCTV footage obtained by BNN, the man’s arm brushed against the minor’s bottom when he lifted his arm to remove his crossbody bag. And he continued on his way, seemingly without noticing.
The minor immediately informed her guardian, who confronted the man, accusing him of an indecent act.
The situation escalated quickly.
The mall’s security detained the man before handing him over to the police.
Despite claims that the contact was accidental and unintentional, he was charged with an indecent act. And slapped with a Ksh 10,000 bail.
Kisumu Man’s Wife Speaks
The man’s wife, identified as Jarunda Jarouth Mambobiad, took to FaceBook to plead for help.
She stated that her husband did not realize what had happened and that the CCTV footage clearly shows it was an accidental touch.
She said they are struggling financially and the KSh10,000 bail is a heavy burden for them. And asked for legal assistance to fight the charges.
The case has sparked mixed reactions. Some members of the public who have seen the footage supporting the man’s version of events.
But others have called for a thorough investigation.
