Detectives investigating the murder of Mombasa taxi driver Victoria Mumbua Muloki have uncovered shocking details about the man believed to be responsible, Edward Ng’etich.
It turns out that Edward Ng’etich, who was arrested while driving Mumbua’s stolen vehicle, may be connected to other murders involving taxi drivers, making him a potential serial killer.
Victoria, a 35-year-old driver who had only been in the taxi driving business for four years disappeared after accepting a ride request from Ng’etich.
Her body was discovered three days later in a thicket in Lari, Kiambu County. The discovery raised alarm, but when Ng’etich was caught with her vehicle, detectives began to dig deeper into his past. What they found was chilling.
Edward Ng’etich Tied to Multiple Taxi Driver Murders
Ng’etich was linked to the July 2024 murder of another taxi driver, George Njuguna.
Police say Ng’etich hired Njuguna to drive him from Kisii to Nairobi, but during the trip, he allegedly abducted and killed him in Gilgil, Nakuru County. Ng’etich dumped Njuguna’s body and fled with the vehicle, which was later sold to a third party. Police have since recovered it.
What’s more, Ng’etich led investigators to another stolen vehicle in Burnt Forest, Uasin Gishu County. Police are now looking into whether the owner of that car is also a victim, as their whereabouts remain unknown.
This troubling series of events has detectives worried that Ng’etich may be part of a larger group targeting taxi drivers. They suspect he is involved in more killings where drivers were abducted, murdered, and their vehicles stolen and resold.
As the investigation continues, an autopsy on Mumbua’s body is expected to reveal more details about how she died. Meanwhile, the taxi driver community is on edge, calling for better safety measures to protect drivers from similar fates.
Ng’etich’s arrest has opened the door to uncovering more crimes, but for now, Mumbua’s family and others connected to these tragic cases are waiting for justice.
