Liverpool fans have claimed the decision to reward their side’s late winner at Nottingham Forest was right as Ibrahima Konate was fouled in the build-up.
Jurgen Klopp’s men took all three points deep into stoppage time thanks to a Darwin Nunez header in the 99th minute.
However, controversy struck when play was stopped over a minute earlier due to Ibrahima Konate’s head injury, when Callum Hudson-Odoi attempted to cross from a dangerous position. Konate quickly recovered and Tierney ruled that Liverpool goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher should resume play.
But instead of giving possession back, Kelleher picked out a teammate and Liverpool went on the attack before eventually finding the winning goal.
Reds supporters insist Konate was fouled by Ryan Yates before colliding with Kelleher and therefore the goal was justified.

One Liverpool fan wrote on X: ‘Really poor analysis of the NFFC LFC game. You totally missed Ryan Yates kicking Konate in the head, which was a foul and red card all day. You also missed the referee’s whistle to stop play while the ball was still in the penalty area and before NFFC gained possession.”
Another echoed these views, saying: ‘It was a foul on Konate, so Tierney got that wrong too. He was hit with a karate kick to the head and the referee missed him and the liner. So it wasn’t even a drop ball for Forest if we follow the rules of the game, but no one on TV mentions that.’

Tierney’s controversial decision resulted in Forest coach Steven Reid being shown a red card after heated scenes on the benches, while unused substitute Felipe was shown a yellow card.
Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis was also able to console Tierney shortly after the whistle.
Meanwhile, Mark Clattenburg will plead Forest’s case to his former employers after the former referee was left stunned by Tierney’s display.
