‘Live With Kelly & Mark’: Kelly Ripa And Mark Consulose Reveal “Gross” Traveling Habit That “Embarrasses” Their Daughter

Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos keep adding to the list of things they do that embarrass their children. On this morning’s episode of Live with Kelly and Mark, the duo even scolded themselves for one “gross” traveling habit they can’t help but partake in.

During the show’s opening chat, the married couple discussed the disappearance of local accents now that many northerners are moving south. While Gen Z is to blame if “y’all” becomes a term of the past, Consuelos revealed that he will always parrot “whatever accent is thrown” at him.

“We have whatever that mental disorder is where you start — you put us in London, we’re British. You put us in France, we speak English with a French accent — and then a fake cigarette always,” Ripa said. “Who do we think we are?”

She added, “It’s gross. I mean, I think we’re funny, but our daughter’s embarrassed all the time. She’s like, ‘Mom, cringe! You’re not British!’”

However, Consuelos noted that their daughter Lola, who spends a lot of time in London with her British boyfriend, has started to adopt a “strange inflection.”

“No, she doesn’t have a British accent at all,” Ripa countered. “She says things like the bin, a bin bag. She won’t say a trash bag. She says a bin bag. She says Rubbish. Take out the rubbish. She’ll say, ‘I have to get that sorted.’”

Still convinced that their daughter has an occasional accent, Consuelos told his wife that he would “point it out” the next time she “says something with a little bit of an inflection.”

This is hardly the first time Ripa and Consuelos have been scrutinized by their family. On a May episode of Live, the co-hosts had a discussion about different types of smooching — and how their kids get grossed out when they pretend to French kiss in front of them.

“We make them think we’re Frenching because it disgusts them,” Ripa said.

Live with Kelly and Mark airs on weekdays. You can find local listings on their website.
