Linda Evangelista has branded filters as “the devil” for criticizing the use of Photoshop shortly after Vogue was accused of “retouching” the star on last month’s cover.

The supermodel, 58 – who recently gave an update on her health after revealing her breast cancer diagnosis in 2018 – shared her thoughts on filters during an appearance on The View earlier this week on Thursday.

The Canadian-born beauty discussed the difference between the modeling industry in the 80s and now. ‘Well, I have a pet. Big,” she admitted.

“I think post-production is the devil. “I think filters and retouching are the devil,” Evangelista said.

Linda continued: ‘When we, once upon a time, when we were doing photography, yes, we were wrong. We tied the belt so tight and then we put coke cans in the back to tighten the waists.’

“We held spotlights to bring out the bags (under the eyes),” she said, but noted that despite certain tricks, Photoshop was never used.

The beauty said that “they did not retouch the photo.” We did it perfectly on set and what you see is what you get.’

“Today it’s like, whatever happens on set – it’s like a button will pop and they’ll be like, ‘Don’t worry, we’ll put it on later.’ Your lashes will hang down, and they’ll say, “Don’t worry, we’ll fix it later.”

Evangelista recently joined fellow legendary supermodels Naomi Campbell, Cindy Crawford and Christy Turlington on the cover of Vogue for the publication’s September issue.

However, the outlet was called out for ‘heavily retouching’ the model. Social media users then criticized the cover even more, calling it “disastrous” and “lazy”.

Another wrote: “This cover does their legacy a disservice omg. Just LAZY,” while one added: “Posing is weird. It was as if they were all filming individually and then photographed them together.’

Although not a fan of filters and Photoshop, Linda revealed to her fans in September 2021 about the failed CoolSculpting procedure she underwent from 2015 to 2016 that left her ‘brutally disfigured’.

At the time, she took to her main Instagram page and wrote an emotional statement to explain why she hadn’t been out in public and admitted she had fallen into a “deep depression”.

In 2022, the supermodel settled a $50 million lawsuit against Zeltik Aesthetics — though the settlement amount was not disclosed.

August, Evangelista said Vogue that she still gets Botox after the botched procedure. “I don’t mind and never have minded getting old.” Aging gets us where we want to be, and that to me is a long life,” she said.

Linda explained: “I want wrinkles – but I’m doing botox on my forehead so I’m a hypocrite – but I want to age.”

The star – who shares son Augustine James, 16, with Kering chief executive Francois-Henri Pinot – also opened up about another health scare she’s faced over the past five years.

While he was talking to The Wall Street Journal last month in September, Evangelista revealed for the first time that she was diagnosed with breast cancer and quietly underwent a double mastectomy five years ago.

The model opened up about her diagnosis in December 2018, which led to her having a bilateral mastectomy, before doctors discovered cancer in her pectoral muscle last year – prompting her to undergo multiple surgeries, radiation therapy and chemotherapy.

She also had a ‘terrible oncotype score’ – which is a number that predicts the likelihood of the cancer coming back. “I know I have one foot in the grave, but I’m totally in celebration,” she explained.
