The populous Thalang Town region in Phuket is set to experience a significant power outage on the upcoming Saturday. The announcement was made by the Thalang branch of the Provincial Electricity Authority (PEA Thalang), citing necessary repairs and maintenance to the high-voltage system in the area as the reason for the disruption.

From 9am to 5pm, electricity will be suspended, affecting a large area surrounding Thalang Town. As per the notice issued by PEA Thalang, the area along the east side of Thepkrasattri Rd, stretching from Marine Steel Phuket to Thalang Phra Nang School, will be impacted.

Contrary to the official announcement, the map accompanying the notice suggests a larger area of impact. The region potentially affected reaches as far south as the Lotus’s shopping mall and covers areas west of the main Thalang Town Intersection along the Baan Don – Cherng Talay Road. This includes the Baan Khian Market and Thalang Kung Kata.

PEA Thalang has urged residents and businesses in these areas to prepare for the outage. The advice includes unplugging sensitive electronic equipment and taking measures to protect appliances. The objective is to minimise any inconvenience that could arise during the power outage window.

Apologies for the disruption were issued by the PEA Thalang branch.

“We apologise for any inconvenience caused by the power outage.”

Further information regarding the planned outage can be obtained by contacting the Thalang PEA office at the number 076-386882 or the PEA call centre at 1129.

Power outages in Phuket are not new. At the beginning of the year, a power cut disrupted a number of residences, condominiums, and villa estates along Layan Soi 1, Moo 6, Cherng Talay, Phuket. The Provincial Electricity Authority’s Thalang branch (PEA Thalang) planned the interruption on January 5.

The blackout was required to facilitate maintenance work on the high-voltage electrical system in the said area. The undertaking aims to enhance the reliability and safety of the power supply, ensuring a steady flow of electricity in the future.
