Kylian Mbappe and Achraf Hakimi lead the bundle as Warren Zaire-Emery is MOBBED by his PSG team-mates after being handed a first ever France call-up by Didier Deschamps

  • Warren Zaire-Emery has excelled at PSG and has five assists in his fourteen games
  • Zaire-Emery can improve Eduardo Camavinga’s French record as the youngest player
  • DOMINIC KING: I don’t understand what football is anymore – It all comes to the surface

Warren Zaire-Emery was heckled by his Paris Saint-Germain teammates after receiving the news that he had been included in Didier Deschamps’ squad for Les Bleus’ upcoming Euro 2024 qualifiers against Greece and Gibraltar.

The 17-year-old has been in stunning form for Luis Enrique’s PSG this season, breaking into the first team despite both his youth and the range of talent available at the club.

He is even considered by some to be the Ligue 1 champions’ standout player and has shown himself to be a fearsome talent after his years in central midfield.

In 14 appearances so far this season in all competitions he has scored twice and provided five assists, and he will now get the chance to show what he can do on the international stage.

First-team superstars Mbappe and best friend Achraf Hakimi lead the way as a group of PSG players burst into Zaire-Emery’s room as he watches Deschamps’ squad announcement and jump on him in his bed.

The group then bunches up on top of the youngster and shouts and celebrates his moment, before finally allowing him to stand up.

Zaire-Emery is then treated to a handshake and a hug from Mbappe, as well as his other teammates, with a proud, if not embarrassed, look on his face.

Born and raised in the Parisian suburb of Montreuil, Zaire-Emery’s move to his boyhood club’s national team may not come as a surprise.

However, he could become the youngest star for Les Bleus in more than 100 years since the First World War if he is given minutes in the international break.

Eduardo Camavinga currently holds the national record at 17 and 9 months, with Zaire-Emery having the chance to eat that feat by a month.

Of course, he is no longer a stranger to making his mark at a young age, having made his bow for PSG at the age of 16 in the first match of the 2022-2023 season.

France sit top of Group B, six points ahead of the Netherlands after six games, with a perfect record and will face Gibraltar in their group, as well as a clash with Greece in the upcoming break.
